展覽特色 「馬內到畢卡索：費城美術館經典展」為臺灣首次與重量級美術館合作之國際藝術展，展出33位大師，共53件油畫及5件青銅雕塑作品，將可飽覽自印象派至近代前衛藝術之西洋藝術發展的脈絡與風格。 展覽自開啟十九世紀末現代城市生活與人物之印象派畫家馬內開始，包括1874年至1886年間崛起的印象派畫家作品，如布丹、竇加、莫內、高更、塞尚、雷諾瓦、畢沙羅、卡莎特等人。另外，還有後期印象派畫家塞尚、高更及梵谷的作品。同時，展出受後期印象派影響的藝術家作品，如盧梭等。除此外，包括畢卡索及野獸派：1907至1940年間在巴黎發生的重要藝術流派，如立體派及巴黎畫派，例如畢卡索、布拉克、德洛內、雷捷、利普茲、格里斯、夏卡爾、莫迪里亞尼等人的作品。最後，呈現1913年後有關美國當代藝術家如何發展出自己的繪畫語彙，展出的藝術家包括達杜象、歐姬芙、唐吉等。 “Manet to Picasso: Masterpieces from the Philadelphia Museum of Art”is Taiwan’s first time to work with an American museum on an international art exhibition. The artworks are from 33 masters, including 53 oil paintings and 5 bronze sculptures. This exhibition provides an overview of the development and styles of Western art from Impressionism to contemporary Avant-garde art. Starting from Manet, the impressionism master in modern city life and people of the end of 19th century, the exhibition displays artworks of impressionism painters who rose from 1874 to 1886, such as Boudin, Degas, Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Cassatt and others. Other artworks are from post-impressionism artists, such as Cezanne, Gaugin, Van Gogh. The artworks of Rousseau influenced by post-impressionism will be shown as well. Important genres created from 1907 to 1940 are also displayed, including artworks of cubism and Parisian artists: Picasso, Braque, Leger, Derain, Lipchitz, Gris, Chagall and Modigliani. At the end, there are works created after 1913, which are from American artists who developed their own painting styles and techniques, such as Dadaism, O’Keeffe and Tanguy.
費城美術館 Philadelphia Museum of Art 費城美術館聳立於費城富蘭克林公園大道上，為一棟寬敞的古典主義風格建築，費時9年興建，於1928年完工。佔地10英畝，共擁有超過兩百座展覽廳，館藏囊括當代藝術、義大利金色背景畫作、日本屏風與夏克傢俱。 費城美術館的館藏特色在於藝術品的多元性，從中國陶器到立體拼貼，許多豐富的館藏作品都歸功於收藏家慷慨餽贈。印象派與當代藝術館藏品為費城美術館最驕傲的收藏品系列之一。在19世紀後期與20世紀初期，購買前衛畫作、雕像和素描作品仰賴少數俱備勇氣之藝術品挑選家。美國人民，尤其是費城居民，是首批熱心收藏印象派作品的收藏家之一，白手起家的傑出企業家以行動支持歐洲藝術家，願意冒險支持在法國尚未成名的新興藝術家，而收藏前衛藝術作品成為企業家展現地位與品味的象徵。許多由費城人收藏的早期印象派作品，多數透過館藏購買或捐贈的方式，成為費城美術館藏之一。費城美術館所收藏的第一幅印象派畫作，是1921年運用威爾斯塔區(W.P.Wilstach)基金所購買的，當時其向亞歷山大．卡塞特的繼承人購買了10幅畫作，其中包括將在本展展出的莫內《日落的海景》。 今日，過去與現在的接軌痕跡，在美術館當代與現代展覽區展露無疑，透過展出年輕藝術家的作品，費城美術館表達出承繼以往，同時追求新藝術的態度。 Today, the connection between the past and the presence is obvious in the contemporary and modern exhibit areas. Through the artworks of young artists, the museum shows an attitude of heritage and pursuit of new art.
